I am a trainee Birth & Postnatal Doula offering services in the Peterborough, Stamford, Ely and Huntingdon areas of East Anglia. I'm listed as a recognised Trainee Doula on the Doula UK  'Find A Doula' pages, Nurturing Birth directory and Peterborough Doula Network website.  

Training & Membership

Although not all doulas are trained with Doula UK accredited trainers and some also choose not to register with Doula UK I felt it was the right decision for me to do so. One of the many benefits is that Doula UK offer a Hardship Fund to contribute towards expenses incurred by Doula's supporting those who cannot pay the fees associated with hiring a doula for one reason or another. This supports my aim of making positive births accessible for all women regardless of financial or social backgrounds. I also believe in the need for ongoing support and mentoring which Doula UK provides to its members. All members follow the same code of ethics and work together regionally supporting each others work, particularly when looking for back up in the event that a doula is unable to attend a birth.  Even though Doula's are self employed it feels wonderful to not be working alone and part of a family still!

Barefoot Mummy - Birth Package

Until I have supported more births and are no longer classed as a trainee, Doula UK ask that trainee Doula's charge a reduced fee of £200 for their services. Following this I will aim to keep my charges as low as possible and am also happy to work together with clients to provide a service according to their budget.  

My birth package includes the following:

  • Initial consultation
  • Further meetings before the birth (minimum of two)
  • Access to my library of pregnancy, birth & parenting books, Natal Hypnotherapy CD's and other aids for birth & early parenting.
  • Phone & email support between 8am & 8pm throughout this time for information, questions, support.
  • On 24hr call for the birth & any other queries from 2 weeks before EDD to 2 weeks after EDD.
  • Attendance during labour at home or hospital as early as needed.
  • A postnatal visit after the birth. Further visits can be arranged at an hourly rate.
  • Available by phone and email 8am - 8pm following the birth for guidance & support.  

Using my knowledge as a Natal Hypnotherapy Practitioner I can also provide guidance with relaxation techniques, using birth balls and other supports as well as other natural therapies such as massage and reflexology. I can also provide additional guidance to parents choosing a waterbirth (hospital or home) and homebirth.

Mothers hiring my services as Doula are also entitled to a 50% reduction on my Natal Hypnotherapy Birth Preparation Courses and 10% reduction on Natal Hypnotherapy CD's.  

Naturally, all birth packages can be tailored to suit the needs of the mother and her family. This serves as guide as to the standard service that I offer & would be dependant on the needs of the mother and the distances needed to travel.
